The Muize Shopping Centre

Google Maps Location: Corner Main road and Atlantic Road with free on-site parking and friendly local car guards to keep an eye.

At the Muize Shopping Centre, you can find a flagship Checkers supermarket store, as well as an Absa, Nedbank and Standard Bank ATM with international card facilities. There is also a bottle/liquor store and a barbershop on site.

Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 8am-7pm. Sundays 9am-4pm.
Wine department is open Monday-Saturday 9am-6pm.

Self-catering essentials: This is a big supermarket that has just about everything you’ll need for your holiday. Fresh fruit and vegetables, a bakery on-site as well as a hot food counter, they also have a coffee counter in store. They sell umbrellas, buckets and spades, all the braai equipment you’ll need and any emergency toiletries you didn’t pack.

Muizenberg Village – Palmer Road

Palmer Road is the heart of the old Muizenberg village with some gorgeous owner-run stores and cafes. A really lovely way to spend a morning, shopping or enjoying a slice of cake. You can pick up free-range meat, dairy and eggs, and organic fruit and veg – packaging free!

Free range butcher – Edsons

Location: 36 Palmer Road, Muizenberg Village
Opening hours: Monday 10am-1pm. Tuesday-Friday 10am-5:30pm. Saturday 8:30am-4pm. Sunday closed.

Edson’s is a family-run free-range butchery leading the way in support of sustainable farming practices. They stock free-range dairy products, homemade jams and their famous in house biltong. Definitely pop in to chat to Joe about the best way to roast a leg of lamb or to pick up some boerewors for the clan. A fantastic range of fresh free-range pork, chicken, boerewors, biltong; everything you need for a cracking braai!

Location: 29 Palmer Road, Muizenberg Village
Opening hours: Tuesday-Friday 10am-6pm. Saturday 10am-2pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The Daily Goods store is the only packaging-free store in Muizenberg, a welcome offering for the eco-conscious shopper. They offer a range of organic dry ingredients that can be purchased by weight in glass jars or brown bags or bring your own containers. They also sell fresh organic veggies from local farmers and an awesome range of packaging-free essentials, reusable items, toiletries and treats made by local suppliers. It’s a lovely store to visit and stock up on your essentials, guilt-free.

There are 4 corner cafe superettes with extended opening hours in Muizenberg for those late-night necessities and emergency supplies. They all sell charcoal, wood fire, firelighters and ice, as well as everything you’d expect from a superette. Milk, break, mixers, snacks and basic toiletries, it’s good to know where to get those last-minute essentials.

This beautiful historic shopping centre set against the dramatic Muizenberg mountains is only 2.3km away from the MUi STAYS office in Muizenberg. Here you will find a friendly fishmonger, a Woolworths and a pet store, and plenty of free onsite parking with friendly car guards to watch over while you shop.

An excellent variety of fresh seafood is on offer, definitely worth a visit for a prawn braai.

A little further along Main Road, you can find Lakeside Shopping Centre, only 3km away from the MUi STAYS office in Muizenberg. The flagship store is Pick n Pay, with a Pick n Pay Liquor Store in the Centre, a pharmacy and a few take away stores.

Organic Zone is best for its range of fresh organic veggies and many other delicious groceries. They also stock a range of organic toiletries, home basics, freshly baked bread and treats, and even mountain water on tap.
