The Bluebird Garage Market is so-named as it is held in an old postal plane hangar, airmail anyone? It is a very charming building, located along the train tracks in Muizenberg, and inside you can find a bustling vibe that is a local favourite. An excellent Friday night hangout spot, there are plenty of bar bench seats, but go early as the place fills up fast.

You can grab a drink from their Bicycle Bar or Gin Bar and browse the wide selection of food on offer for all tastes and lifestyles. A great place to pick up fresh baked bread, fruit and veg from a local farmer and other groceries for your self-catering holiday and browse a selection of exquisite creations from local artists; pottery, jewellery, clothing and art. If you are staying in Muizenberg you can walk to the market and back safely, it’s what the locals do. Dog-friendly with a dedicated play area for kids.

Earthfair Market

Earthfair market is a lovely indoor market frequented by locals picking up their weekly grocery haul. Wednesday night market is a vibe, there is loads of seating inside and outside under the stretch tent to enjoy your delicious market food, whilst sipping on a GnT from the bar. You can find locally grown organic vegetables, meats straight from the farm and the most delicious baked breads around, there is food for everyone and every palate.

From fresh flowers, home made sauces to jewellery and basket-ware there are plenty of gifts to grab while you’re there. It’s a short drive away from Muzienberg, and there’s loads of free parking at this market. A little tricky to find, but it is in the same centre as Builders Warehouse, so follow the signs once you’re in the parking lot. There is a kids zone and the market is dog friendly.

Situated at the foot of the Constantiaberg mountain, this country farmer’s market is held in a permanent marquee with lots of spacious outdoor seating under the tallest pine trees. Locals frequent this beautiful weekend market, and there is plenty to keep you entertained amongst the mountains. There’s a jungle gym and jumping castle to keep the kids occupied and live music every week creating a chilled vibe.

Strictly a craft fair, no mass produced items are sold at the Kirstenbosch Craft Market, which is great for supporting local entrepreneurs. They have around 250 local crafters selling original hand made items of the best quality. Great for gift shopping! Loads of food and drink options and pony rides for the kids. Afterwards you can make a visit to the Kirstenbosch Gardens which is across the road.
